Meet Dr. Janice McMinn

“My ultimate goal as an orthodontist is to meet and exceed my patients’ expectations in creating a beautiful smile. I love witnessing the joy a patient achieves at the completion of their active orthodontics … that moment when they look in the mirror after their braces are removed! It is what inspires me to come into the office and give my all each and every day.” — Dr. McMinn

Professional Background

Dr. McMinn graduated with her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Western Ontario’s Faculty of Dentistry in 1996 and from UWO’s graduate orthodontic program in March of 2002. In August 2002, Dr. McMinn was admitted as a Fellow to the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.

Dr. McMinn has been providing orthodontic care in Aurora and Keswick since 2002 and Uxbridge since 1997.

Professional Involvement

Dr. McMinn has had years of involvement with professional development interests. She has served as general councillor for the Ontario Dental Association, president of the Aurora Dental Study Club, president of the York Region Dental Society, and president of the Toronto Orthodontic Club. She is currently an active member of these associations as well as the Ontario Association of Orthodontists.

Community Involvement and Interests

Community involvement is important to Dr. McMinn. She is active with various community organizations, including Georgina Cares and the Optimist Club. Each year, she enjoys organizing the annual Uxbridge Optimist Youth Chess tournament.

Her policy is to grant patients’ requests for sponsorship based on their involvement in a local team, and has led her to sponsor many individual teams in the community (hockey, soccer, swimming, dance, etc.). She also supports local schools by providing graduation awards to eighth-grade and twelfth-grade students for proficiency in science.

Dr. McMinn has served as a board member for the Aurora Chamber of Commerce and also attends Optimist Club activities. She and her staff are actively partnered with Georgina Cares, an organization dedicated to providing assistance for underprivileged children in our community.

Outside the Office

After spending many years in London, Ontario while in dental school, followed by specialist training, Dr. McMinn returned to her roots north of the city. She opened an office in Keswick (in her grandparents’ home—built by her grandfather in 1968!) and joined her husband’s orthodontic office in Aurora. They live in the Aurora area with their children. When she’s not at the office, Dr. McMinn is spending time with her family, and working in the garden. She has also caught her husband’s windsurfing “bug,” so they spend time chasing the wind on Georgian Bay.
